"Pancreatic cancer remains one of the most formidable and lethal malignancies globally, with a survival rate of scarcely 13 percent. Its insidious onset and frequent late-stage diagnosis render it particularly devastating, and Black men and boys bear a disproportionate burden, experiencing the highest incidence and mortality rates. Studies show that Black men are up to 50 percent more likely than white men to develop this disease, and entrenched systemic inequities further exacerbate these disparities, resulting in delayed diagnoses, constrained treatment options, and markedly poorer outcomes."

WHY THIS FUND, AND WHY NOW

Pancreatic cancer is one of the deadliest cancers in America, and Black Americans face the highest incidence rate of any U.S. racial or ethnic group. We have lost extraordinary Black lives to this disease, including Aretha Franklin and Quincy Jones. Every statistic is a family. Major national organizations have done important work in research and advocacy, and we respect it. But the communities carrying the heaviest burden have never had a pancreatic cancer fund built and led by their own. Until now. The Black Boy Joy Foundation is proud to launch the first-ever Black-led Pancreatic Cancer Fund, so that those most affected have a real voice in the research questions asked, the resources deployed, and the institutions built to save lives.

THE MISSION

This campaign is dedicated to transforming urgency into lifesaving action by supporting research aimed at earlier detection, advanced therapies, and comprehensive support for families affected by pancreatic cancer.

Every contribution made through the Black Boy Joy Foundation will be directed to rigorously vetted, high-impact research institutions and community-centered initiatives committed to innovative science, equitable care, and measurable progress against this devastating disease. This is the awareness our communities urgently require. This is the work that saves lives, strengthens families, and builds a future where hope and healing are within reach for all.

We call on the communities that shape our culture (artists, executives, creatives, athletes, public figures, studios, labels, and fans across the globe) to stand with us in redefining the fight against pancreatic cancer.

Your voice, influence, and partnership can raise critical funds, expand awareness, and ignite hope in the communities most at risk, especially Black men and boys, who face disproportionately higher mortality rates.
